Leona Lewis 'denied number one' Leona Lewis will not be number one this weekend because her record company prevented her releasing a surefire hit, it has been claimed.
The X Factor winner had performed the Snow Patrol hit Run on last Saturday's edition of the show which made her a star.
And it had been expected that, if released as a download-only single, it would have shot to the top of the charts this week.
As it is record label Sony has decided to shelve the release.
No official reason has been given but there is speculation it is to boost sales of the special edition version of her album Spirit.
This features the Run cover as a bonus track and is released on Monday.
"If that's the case, the Leona camp will be furious," a source told the Sun newspaper.
"Given the choice of a single or double number one, I know what they would have preferred."
